According to Wikipedia, Santa Barbara is the county seat of Santa Barbara County, California, United States. Situated on an east-west trending section of coastline, the longest such section on the West Coast of the United States, the city lies between the steeply-rising Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Santa Barbara's climate is often described as Mediterranean, and the city is sometimes referred to as the "American Riviera."

Because of Santa Barbara’s unique location on the California coastline, it is the only area in North America that has a Mediterranean climate classification. As a result, there is very little variation in temperature across a year, with temperatures in July reaching on average 79 degrees. The chart below compares the temperature to Las Vegas and Philadelphia.

What to Pack

Although usually sunny and warm in July, the high temperature won't get much higher than 75. At night it can get very cool out, so a light jacket or sweater is always a good idea. For the wedding reception, we will be in a plaza that is open to the sky, so we can enjoy the sunshine before sunset and the stars after sunset. Bringing along a sweater or wrap might be best to keep warm once the sun goes down, especially since we are right by the water and will most likely enjoy a cool breeze.
